Workplace Giving Australia has awarded South East Water a Workplace Giving Award in the ‘Best Grants Program’ category.
The water utility was recognised for its annual Community Grants Program, which has awarded more than $330,000 in grants to help make 66 community projects happen since 2019.
The grants help make grassroots community projects possible, supporting the community in areas of affordability, health and liveability, environment and water security and knowledge.
The program is a key initiative for fostering a community culture within the organisation, with up to 55 South East Water employee volunteers making up the judging panel each year.
Just a few of the projects the organisation has supported through the grants include sustainable gardens, new drinking taps at local schools, care packages for children in foster care and water safety programs for local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
South East Water Managing Director Lara Olsen said the organisation was honoured to be recognised by Workplace Giving Australia for the award.
“The success of our Community Grants Program is a reflection of the amazing contributions of community groups and volunteers across Melbourne’s south-east who help protect our environment and support our communities.”
“We’re grateful to work with them on this.”
South East Water Managing Director, Lara Olsen
